The wife declared a holiday yesterday and the husband had to dutifully obey ;-). The plan was to have lunch at Bukhara followed by shopping and a movie somewhere. Only the first happened, the rest is pushed to the weekend :-)

We decided to have lunch at Bukhara in ITC Maurya. The restaurant figures regularly in the world's top 50 restaurant list. This year it is ranked 37 and rated best in India and Asia. It is also the only entry from both. So how good can a restaurant be? With my hitch-hiker SigFood bias I don't trust one-off reviews too much and don't go by ratings. However I will only say that all the hype is well deserved. I don't have much to add to the scores of rave reviews on the web. The food was _*great*_, the ambiance was _*awesome*_, the service was largely flawless, and the bill was _*huge*_. No one is given forks and spoons to eat or serve unless you cry. Clearly this one is for special occasions only but it is more than worth it on special occasions.

We started with a refreshingly different Banana Colada and some Guinness beer.
We had succulent Murgh Malai Kabab - eaten as suggested with a Rumali Roti in a roll with green chutney.
We indulged in a Burrah Kabab with a Tandoori Roti and onions.
We freaked out over unquestionably the best Dal Bukhara (makhani/maa-ki-daal) I've ever eaten.
There was no scope for deserts or the famous Sikandri Raan or Naan Bukhara.
Have to keep something for next time given that the entire menu consists only of about 8 non-veg dishes, 6 veg-dishes, breads, and deserts.
The total damages were 4.5k.

There is home food, there is street food, there is hitch-hiking for food, and there is fine dining like at Bukhara. Hats off to all.
